Lockdown Lunch - Washingborough
"It was great to hear the children sharing their experiences and for Anne to talk about how she was keeping in contact with her family. A great way to catch up over a delicious school meal"
Washingborough Academy, a Gold Food for Life school, had already been sharing meals with the older generation of their community for over two years as part of their ongoing Get Togethers work when Covid-19 hit.
The school wanted to maintain the links to people in their community during lockdown – so they set up a socially distanced lunch between Anne, a member of the older generation in the community, and the key worker children in school.
Anne and the children enjoyed sharing a meal that the school cook had prepared, which was delivered to Anne. The meal used vegetables grown in the kitchen garden and local produce.
The children and Anne discussed how they were keeping busy, staying in contact with family and, of course, the delicious lunch they were remotely enjoying together.
