Food for Life Get Togethers are all about bringing people together using the power of good food.

The Big Lunch is the UK’s thanksgiving weekend for neighbours and communities - a time where people come together to celebrate community connections and get to know one another a little better.

After Plant and Share Month, the Big Lunch is a great opportunity to bring your local community together and share in the delight of any crops that have been grown as part of June's Community Month celebrations.

The Big Impact

The Big Lunch is inclusive and welcoming. It makes a real difference to the places that we live and how we feel about them. Here’s how:

  • Around 6 million people of all faiths, ages, ethnicities and backgrounds come together for The Big Lunch every year
  • 91% of attendees saying The Big Lunch was just the kind of event that people needed at this time of Coronavirus
  • 7 million people made a new friend as a result of The Big Lunch in 2019
  • 5 million people say The Big Lunch helped them feel less lonely

"This was a truly wonderful day, which brought our school community together. "Deborah (Inglewood Community Nursery and Infant School Big Lunch)
