School children and adults wearing PPE gardening together

About us

Food for Life Get Togethers are regular community activities that connect people from all ages and backgrounds through growing, cooking and eating good food.

A bigger movement

Food for Life Get Togethers is a UK Wide community focused Good Food programme funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and led by Soil Association’s Food for Life.

Diversity and inclusion

Bringing people from different generations or backgrounds together around good food is at the heart Food for Life Get Togethers.

What makes a Food for Life Get Together?

A Get Together connects people from different backgrounds or generations through good food activities.

Food is a great leveller and brings people together, regardless of age, heritage or background.

What is good food?

Good food is food that’s good for you, good for the planet and good for the local economy.  Good food is even better when shared and we believe good food should be for everyone!

“Complete beginners having a go at growing their own fruits and vegetables has been a great way to investigate fresh food and sustainable food sources. It’s been fantastic to see both children and adults enjoying trying a new hobby and demonstrating what Food for Life Get Togethers is all about.”
