Linking Generations Northern Ireland leads the way in connecting generations in communities across NI working alongside local people to address local issues. They specialise in the promotion of intergenerational practice, creating opportunities for different generations to learn from, support, meet and enjoy each-others company. Their vision is for an Age friendly Northern Ireland where all generations are respected, understood, connected and engaged together in their communities.  Currently LGNI coordinate a Northern Ireland wide intergenerational network with groupings of members in every council area to sign up visit www.linkinggenerationsni.com/join.

Acting as a catalyst for intergenerational approaches LGNI identify the opportunities and resources that exist within communities, organisations and settings and support them to apply an intergenerational approach.  They support connections and relationship building and equip ‘people’ and ‘communities’ with the tools to deliver intergenerational approaches which are grounded in local need and issues.

As a partner in the Get Togethers project LGNI utilise their connection with their network members to promote the benefits of connecting generations through food, eating, cooking and growing together.  LGNI activities as part of Get Togethers include:

  • Promoting Get Togethers activities to our membership
  • Small grants for intergenerational Get Togethers
  • Information sessions on intergenerational Get Togethers opportunities
  • Demonstration projects
