Soup, muffins and movies for Cook and Share Month

Soup, muffins and movies for Cook and Share Month

“Gathering around a table to in share good food and conversation is such a simple thing but has an immeasurable impact on people’s lives.”

At Get Togethers, we know that good food has the power to bring people together – to create new friendships and strengthen bonds. That’s why this autumn we’re launching Cook and Share Month

Incredible Edible Handbridge are a thriving community group in Cheshire. They have been holding regular Cook and Share events after securing vital funding as part of our Small Grants programme. Their autumnal soup and movie events have been a huge hit among the locals, attracting families of all ages and backgrounds.

Over 50 people have signed up to their next event. Incredible Edible Handbridge plan to serve up a comforting bowl of healthy, homemade soup with herby muffins. As they tuck in, the group will enjoy a film, showing the importance of bees to the environment and the food on our plates.

What is more, they are offering free produce from their vegetable plot, alongside activities for children and discussions about their plans for 2022.

Lisa Rossetti at Incredible Edible Handbridge, said: “This is the perfect opportunity to meet, especially after being isolated from each other during the pandemic. Gathering around a table to in share good food and conversation is such a simple thing but has an immeasurable impact on people’s lives. Getting out and meeting people is essential for our wellbeing whatever our age, especially at this time of year.”

90% of Get Togethers organisers agree that their activities created friendships, as well as supporting people’s health and wellbeing. Cook and Share Month is the ideal opportunity to bring people together over good food and conversation, whether you’re serving up the soup or spilling the tea.
